Join the National Industry Coalition for Hub-Only Pipeline Topology (HOPT)
Objective: Freeing Emitters from the tyranny of CO2 Transportation Pipelines While Building India’s Carbon Future
India’s industries are on the frontline of the Net Zero mission — yet today’s CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) models burden every emitter with complex on-site CO₂ management, high-pressure pipelines, and costly compression systems.
The Hub-Only Pipeline Topology (HOPT) changes that.
In this topology:
-
CO2 will be captured using a solid sorbent (can be one of many solid sorbents, e.g. CaO) in solid form at the emitting sites
-
After capture, the CO2 laden solids will be transported via ordinary transport (not requiring CO2 pipelines as these are solids) to hubs where the sorbent will be regenerated and CO2 released
-
Thus the Hubs will be the CO2 release points and not the emitting sites
-
Pipelines will connect only the hubs – thereby freeing the emitters from the pipeline network
-
Each hub will serve multiple emitters and there shall be multiple hubs across the country
This means:
-
Emitters are completely free from on-site CO₂ management or gas pipelines.
-
Independence and operational flexibility are maintained.
-
Industries remain self-reliant, yet part of a unified national framework.
-
The total pipeline length and cost reduce by over 50%, creating a national public-good infrastructure that works for all.
Freedom for Emitters. Strength for the Nation.
The National Framework
The Hub-Only Pipeline Topology (HOPT) forms the backbone of a new, India-born CCUS ecosystem that includes:
-
Generation IV Carbon Capture (Gen4CC) — a framework defining national standards for solid-looping, SO₂-tolerant, modular CCUS technologies.
-
HySORB™ — the first Gen4CC spin-out, capturing both CO₂ and SO₂ directly from untreated flue gas, turning existing FGDs into dual-purpose carbon capture assets.
Together, HOPT + Gen4CC + HySORB™ create an India-specific carbon infrastructure that:
-
Saves ₹12–15 lakh crore in lifecycle costs
-
Creates 8–10 million green jobs
-
Advances Atmanirbhar Bharat through fully indigenous innovation
Our Call to Industry
We invite industries — power, cement, steel, fertilizer, refinery, and others — to join the national coalition supporting this framework.
By uniting as one voice, we can propose to the Government of India a policy pathway that recognizes HOPT–Gen4CC as the national CCUS model — freeing emitters, strengthening industry, and building a climate-resilient future.
How to Join
Please indicate your willingness to join by filling out the NON-BINDING short form below.
Your participation will help establish a national industrial consensus for a practical, scalable, and independent carbon management framework.
“As railways once united India’s industries through connectivity, HOPT unites them again — this time through climate responsibility.”
